THE TEAMS: Southeast Missouri is 12-14 overall and 7-9 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Redhawks ended a six-game losing streak with a 121-116 triple overtime win over league leading Austin Peay on Jan. 29. The Redhawks also have OVC home wins over Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech and Eastern Kentucky and road wins over Samford, Jacksonville State and Eastern Illinois. The losses are home losses to Murray State and Morehead State and road losses at Austin Peay, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, Murray State, Tennessee-Martin, Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky. The Redhawks also have wins over Louisiana Tech, Evansville, Culver-Stockton, Longwood and Central Methodist with losses to nationally ranked Xavier, Coppin State, Tulsa and Illinois State and Bradley from the Missouri Valley Conference.

Eastern Illinois is 4-20 overall and 3-13 in the OVC. UT Martin is 13-14 overall and 9-8 in the OVC going into a game Thursday at Tennessee Tech.

THE COACHES: Scott Edgar is 23-34 in his second season as head coach at Southeast after previous head coaching stints at Murray State and Duquesne. His collegiate record is 131-129 in his ninth year as a head coach. Edgar is 4-1 vs. Eastern Illinois and 10-1 vs. UT Martin.

Mike Miller is 20-55 in his third year at EIU and is 107-140 in his 8th year as a head coach.

Bret Campbell is 99-155 in his ninth year at UTM.

THE SERIES: The Redhawks lead the EIU series 19-15 and the UTM series 38-21.

EARLIER GAMES: The Redhawks beat Eastern Illinois 82-71 on Jan. 5 in Charleston, but lost to UT Martin 90-71 at the Show Me Center on Feb. 2.

**REDHAWKS NOTES**.

SCORING MILESTONES: During the Eastern Kentucky game, two Redhawks reached scoring milestones. Sophomore Rod Pearson scored his 500th point at Southeast and now has 515 points for his two-year career. Senior Mike Rembert scored his 400th point as a Redhawk and now had 414 points for his two years at Southeast. Including his two years at Bradley, Rembert has 542 points. Sophomore Marcus Rhodes is closing in on 400 points. He has 387 points.

REMBERT HITS THE BOARDS: Rembert had a career high 19 rebounds in the overtime loss at Eastern Kentucky. His previous career high was 12 against Eastern Illinois last season.

HERRING IS OVC NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: Junior college transfer Jaycen Herring is this week's OVC Newcomer of the Week. Herring averaged 20.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, three assists and two steals per game in the two games last week. He had a career high 29 points and 12 rebounds in recording his first double-double in the 121-116 win over Austin Peay. He is averaging 14.5 points per game during OVC games. He is shooting .507 from the field, .406 from three and .759 from the line. The 6-5 transfer from Palm Beach CC who played his freshman season at Tennessee-Chattanooga, Herring has scored in double figures in 17 of his last 20 games played, and averages 13.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.

TV HOT, HOT, HOT: Junior guard Kenard Moore was 11-16 (.688) from three in the two nationally televised games. In OVC play, Moore is shooting .434 from three. Overall, he averages 9.2 points per game while shooting .412 from three and .818 from the line. He was 7-10 from three and 5-6 from the line while scoring a career high 28 points against Austin Peay.

HARRIS SHINES: Junior Hank Harris had a career high 12 points in the Austin Peay game. He was 2-3 from the field, 2-2 from three and 6-6 from the line. Harris had nine points in the third overtime. He started both games last week.

DEPTH IS A KEY: Depth has played a key role for the Redhawks this season. In a stat researched by Chris Forman of the United States Naval Academy, Southeast is one of seven teams in NCAA Division I to have 10 or more players score in double figures this season. Wofford and Southeast have 11 players while Navy, Duquesne, Creighton, Belmont and Lipscomb have 10. The Redhawks who have scored in double figures this season and their game highs include Brandon Foust (25), Will Bogan (23), Rod Pearson (22), Jaycen Herring (29), Jimmy Drew (19), Kenard Moore (28), Calvin Williams (16), Marcus Rhodes (15), David Johnson (12), Mike Rembert (17) and Hank Harris (12).

PEARSON CONSISTENT: Sophomore Rod Pearson has started 24 of 26 games this season. He is second on the team in scoring with 258 points and leads in assists with 63. Pearson averages 10.5 points and 2.4 assists.

OVC HONORS: Senior Brandon Foust was selected as a co-winner of the OVC Player of the Week honors on Jan. 7 after averaging a double-double in win wins over Eastern Kentucky and Eastern Illinois. He averaged 16.5 points and 11 rebounds per contest and also added 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

Calvin Williams, a transfer from Colorado, was named the OVC Newcomer of the Week for the second time this season after averaging a double-double in two opening OVC wins. Williams averaged 15.5 points and 11 rebounds per game in the wins over Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech.

IMPRESSIVE START BY BOGAN: True freshman Will Bogan, 6-10, 300, is off to an impressive start with the Redhawks. He had 23 points at Illinois State. Bogan had the game winning tip in with 1.9-seconds remaining in the win at Jacksonville State. He had 17 points against league leading Austin Peay and 18 points against Tennessee-Martin. He is shooting .590 from the field in OVC games and is 1-1 from three. After 24 games played, Bogan averages 7.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.

REMBERT ROUNDS INTO FORM: Senior post player Michael Rembert is recovering from two off season knee surgeries, is finally healthy and more productive. Rembert, who has started 18 of the last 20 games, is averaging 6.5 points and 4.3 rebound per game. He had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds at Murray State.

FOUST OUT FOR SEASON: Senior forward Brandon Foust, 6-6, has been lost for the remainder of the season with a knee injury suffered in the Jan. 12 game at Austin Peay.

Foust, a preseason all-Ohio Valley Conference choice, injured his knee when landing from a dunk shot with 11:57 remaining in the game. He had surgery on his injured knee on Fri., Feb. 8.

For the season, Foust averaged 11.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. He shot .481 from the field, 370 from three and .780 from the free throw line.

For his career at Southeast, Foust played in 49 games and averaged 11.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.

ESPNU BRACKETBUSTER: Southeast will play at Eastern Michigan in an ESPNU BracketBuster game on Saturday, Feb. 23. The tipoff at the Convocation Center on the Eastern Michigan campus will be 3 p.m. (CST).

TWO EARLY SIGNEES: The Redhawks signed two players to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period. Martino Brock, 6-5 guard from Nashville Christian Academy, and Mark Caviness, 6-5 swing player from Indian River Community College in Ft. Pierce, Fla. Brock is averaging 22 points and 7 rebounds per game this season. Caviness is averaging 16 points and seven rebounds per game.

AT THE SHOW ME CENTER: Southeast has a record of 212-93 (.697) at the Show Me Center since the facility opened in 1987. The Redhawks are 7-3 at the Show Me Center this season while leading the OVC in home attendance with 3,520 per game.

SID STREAK: Southeast SID Ron Hines has worked 815 consecutive basketball games. He has not missed a game since 1980.

NEXT FOR THE REDHAWKS: Following the games with Eastern Illinois and UT Martin, Southeast will travel to Ypsilanti, Michigan for an ESPNU BracketBuster game against Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 23.
