Crysta Glenn Captures OVC Newcomer of the Week Accolades

Feb. 11, 2008

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State junior Crysta Glenn (San Diego, Calif./Cowley County CC) was selected as the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week, the conference announced this afternoon. This is the first conference weekly honor for Glenn and the second time a Southeast player has been honored by the OVC this season.

A 5-10 forward, Glenn averaged 10.5 points and 14 rebounds a game last week in helping Southeast post a 2-0 record during its Death Valley road trip through the state of Kentucky. She opened the week with career highs of 14 boards, three steals and 37 minutes of play in the Redhawks' 50-48 win at Morehead State on Feb. 6. Glenn followed her performance two days later at Eastern Kentucky with her third double-double of the year as she tallied a career-best 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting and 14 rebounds.

Glenn is second on the team in rebounds with an average of six caroms per contest while averaging 6.3 points a game. She currently ranks fourth in the conference in offensive rebounds with a 3.1 per game average and is 12th overall in total rebounds.

Southeast (17-6, 12-2) returns to the Show Me Center on Thursday (Feb. 14) for a key OVC battle against Eastern Illinois with a start time of 5 p.m.
