By Matthew C. Worthington, Gymnastics Contact

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri University junior Sandra Blake (Tri-Cities, Wash./Mid Columbia Gymnastics) earned her second straight Midwest Independent Conference of the Week award, totaling the fifth honor of her career.

Blake won her second straight floor title with a career-best 9.850 and her first vault title of the season with a career-best 9.875. Her outstanding vault performance placed her second all-time at Southeast and helped the Redhawks tally the sixth best all-time team vault score in Southeast history.

This award marks the second of the season for Blake after winning MIC Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 31 for her performance against Illinois State in which she won her first all-around (38.950) of the season and shared the individual title on the floor exercise (9.800). The Redhawks will be in action this Friday in Denton, Tex. against Texas Woman's University, and will return to Houck Field House to host Centenary College on Sunday, February 10 at 2:00 p.m.
