Day Two of Mardi Gras Tournament a Wash

MONROE, La. - (Saturday, February 16, 2008) With pools of water on the field after a morning full of rain, the second day of the 20th Annual Mardi Gras Classic has been called. The tournament will resume play on Sunday at 9 a.m. from the ULM Softball Complex and feature five games on the final day of play. Festivities will begin at 9 a.m. when the Redhawks (3-0) take on the Big 12's Iowa State (4-1) day's first game. The Redhawks will then face host Louisiana-Monroe (3-3) at 1:00 p.m. The revamped schedule will allow all six participating teams to play in at least three games. ULM and Central Arkansas will each finish the tournament with four games played. After the opening day on Friday night, ULM, Iowa State and Southeast Missouri all sport 1-0 tournament marks. Louisiana Tech split a pair of games on Friday, Central Arkansas went 1-2 and Arkansas-Pine Bluff went 0-2. At the conclusion of play on Sunday, a tournament champion will be crowned and awards will be distributed. The participating coaches will also declare a 12-member All-Tournament Team and a Most Valuable Player shortly after the conclusion of the ULM vs. Louisiana Tech game. Sunday Game Schedule: Game 6: Iowa State (H) vs. Southeast Missouri (A) - 9 a.m. Game 7: ULM (H) vs. Iowa State (A) - 11 a.m. Game 8: ULM (H) vs. Southeast Missouri (A) - 1 p.m. Game 9: Central Arkansas (H) vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff (A) - 3 p.m. Game 10: ULM (H) vs. Louisiana Tech (A) - 5 p.m. |
