Softball Doubleheader vs. Evansville Cancelled

March 4, 2008

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - (Tuesday, March 4, 2008, 2008) Due to scheduled ice storms and persistent precipitation that are expected to hit Cape Girardeau and the surrounding regions the Redhawks softball team have cancelled their scheduled doubleheader against Missouri Valley Conference opponent Evansville that was slated for Wednesday, March 5. The game will not be rescheduled for this season and the teams have agreed to rescheduled the series for the 2009 season.

The Redhawks (7-5) have won three-straight including a sweep of their games that they played this past Sunday at home at the All-Missouri Strike Out Against Cancer Classic. They defeated Missouri State 3-1 before using four homeruns to defeat Saint Louis, 7-3.

The team will head down south to participate in the six-team Florida Atlantic University Miken Invitational in Boca Raton, Florida. The team starts the tournament on Friday, March 7 in the opening game vs. Florida Gulf Coast University at 10:00 am (CST) at FAU Softball Stadium.

The Redhawks will play two games on Friday and Saturday in round-robin play before playing one game on Sunday. On Tuesday the Redhawks will stay in Boca Raton and face Longwood University in a doubleheader at FAU Softball Stadium.
