Southeast Opens OVC Play Saturday against Austin Peay

Feb. 28, 2008

By Brett Maikowski, Tennis Contact

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast tennis will continue to play on the road this weekend as they travel to Clarksville, Tenn. to compete against Austin Peay at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Redhawks will look to win their first OVC conference match of the season as well. In the past three years, Southeast has gone 2-1 in their opening conference matches, including two 7-0 shutouts in 2005 and 2006.

The Redhawks lineup will carry over from last week as senior Bryce Kristal will take the lead in the No. 1 singles slot, with junior Julia Masotti following in the No. 2 spot. In No. 3 singles, senior Drew Kristal will compete and sophomore Alyce Kelly will take control of the No. 4 match. Assuming the No. 5 slot is sophomore Elise Nattier with freshman Taylor Orahood rounding out the lineup in No. 6 action.

In doubles, Bryce and Drew Kristal will continue to make up the No. 1 team. Masotti and Kelly will comprise the No. 2 tandem, while Nattier and Orahood will follow in the No. 3 doubles match.

Austin Peay (0-6) has lost their first six matches of the season and will not only be looking for their first conference win this weekend, but their first overall win as well. Their most recent loss came from Bethel College when they fell 5-2 on Wednesday, Feb. 27.
