Savannah, Ga. - The Shorter College Hawks baseball team fought against a tough Savannah College of Art & Design on Saturday afternoon, losing the first game 5-0 and losing the second game 2-1. In the first game, SCAD scored the only runs in the game: three off of stating Hawks pitcher Alexis Fortis in the third inning and two off of reliever JP Griffin in the fourth. Shorter managed only two hits in the game, both from right-fielder Gustavo Bonilla, who was 2-for-3. Fortis picked up the loss for the Hawks (0-1) and SCAD's Eddie Anderson picked up the win (2-0). In the second game, the Bees made the first blow after a run in both the first and fourth innings. Shorter scored their first and only run of the series in the top of the fifth on an RBI single from Ross Ballard that scored Jarrod Lewis, to close the gap 2-1. Dustin Bowers was the losing pitcher for the Hawks (0-1) and Adam Honeycutt got the win (1-0). The Hawks continue play on Tuesday, as they travel to NCAA West Georgia for one nine-inning game at 1 p.m. |
