Brandon Ponder

Feb. 9, 2008

Daytona Beach, Fla. - The Shorter College baseball team continued to struggle at the plate Friday in Daytona Beach, Fla., when Embry-Riddle handed the Hawks a 10-0 defeat in a game stopped after seven innings.

The Hawks got two hits each from Brandon Ponder and Gustavo Bonilla, but could only get two other hits from the rest of the lineup.

Embry-Riddle starter Jordan Roberts struck out nine to earn the complete-game win.

The two teams square off again today for a doubleheader.

The Hawks close out a six-game season-opening road trip Tuesday in Milledgeville against Georgia College, then play their first home game next Friday against Cumberland.
