Milledgeville, Ga. - The Shorter College Hawks lost to a tough NCAA Division II Georgia College and State University on Tuesday afternoon, 9-0. The Hawks (1-5) kept a close game against GCSU, ranked 22nd in D2, for the first five innings, before costly errors allowed the Bobcats (4-2) two runs in the six, followed by five runs in the seventh. Shorter had an impressive seven hits from seven different batters in the game. Ben Erichsen (0-1) started for the Hawks and pitched four innings, giving up only one run. Sean Heimpel (1-1) picked up the win for Georgia College. Shorter has their first home game this weekend as the Hawks play three games against the University of the Cumberlands. A single game will be played Friday at 2 p.m., followed by a double-header on Saturday at 1 p.m. |
