Jan. 31, 2008

Rome, Ga. - This Saturday, the Shorter College Hawks baseball team will have their season opener against Savannah College of Art & Design at Chain Stadium in Garden City, Ga. The Hawks will play a doubleheader against the Bees starting at 1 p.m.

"The guys are itching to get out on the field and play another team besides one another," said head coach Matt Larry. "SCAD is going to be a great test to see how ready our team is. They are a talented team with good pitchers and a lot of depth."

Tentatively starting for the Hawks will be Alexis Fortis in the first game, and Dustin Bowers in the second. The game statistics will be broadcast live from Savannah and can be found by clicking here.

Following the trip to Savannah, Shorter will travel to NCAA West Georgia on Feb. 6 for one nine-inning game, before a trip to Daytona Beach, Fla., against nationally-ranked Embry-Riddle (Feb. 8-9), and on Feb. 12 to Milledgeville, Ga. to play Georgia College and State University. Their first home games will be on Feb. 15-16 against Cumberland University (Ky.).
