Rome, Ga. - Shorter dropped one game and won another against Southern States Athletic Conference rival Lee on Wednesday, dropping the first game 3-2 and winning the second 6-1. In the first game, Becca Thomas had a shaky first inning, giving up two runs. She settled down as the game progressed, but the damage was too much for Shorter (29-9, 9-5) to come back from. Thomas threw six innings and struck out three. Lindsey McDaniel knocked in two runs with a two-RBI double for Shorter and Thomas and Kerry Hammond were both 2-for-3. In the nightcap, Libby Munson headed to the mound for a complete game. She scattered six hits, struck out two and walked four. Newton was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored, McDaniel had an RBI and scored, Bruno and Monica West each knocked in a run and Kali Milford scored. |
