Softball wins 10th and 11th straight over Lee



Munson pitched a two-hit complete game

Cleveland, Tenn. - Using strong pitching in the opener and an offensive explosion in the nightcap, the No. 18-ranked Lady Hawks softball teamswept Lee, 4-2 and 13-4, in a Southern States Athletic Conference doubleheader at Lee's softball complex.

The second game was stopped by the run rule after five innings.

Becca Thomas and Libby Munson each pitched complete games for Shorter (39-9, 19-5) in the sweep. Thomas allowed eight hits and struck out three in Game 1, and Munson allowed two hits and struck out five in the second game.

Jessica Sanders and Munson each went 4-for-7 overall in the two games to pace Shorter's offense.

Lindsey McDaniel hit a two-run homer in the opener, and Kerri Hammond finished with two hits, including a double, and drove in a run.

Monica West went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and scored two runs in the second game. Lakyn Newton added two hits, scored two runs and drove in one.

The Lady Hawks return home Wednesday to play Emmanuel College at the Alto Park Softball Complex.
