Bloomington, Ind. - The Shorter College track team continued to turn heads Friday and Saturday at the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Ind., as six members from the men's and women's teams qualified for the Indoor National Championship in Johnson City, Tenn. on March 6-8. Nate Scott qualified in the men's 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.34. Three qualified in the men's 600 meter run: Remy Charpentier (1:20.59), Allen O'Neal (1:21.59), and Derricus Johnson (1:22.53). Additionally, the 4x400 meter relay team qualified with a time of 3:24.89. The relay members were Nick Dodson, A.J. Baker, Derricus Johnson, and Logan Cornett. Martin Hernandez qualified in the 5000 meter with a time of 15:16.89 & the 4x800 meter team, consisting of Johnson, O'Neal, Andrew Rodriguez and Charpentier, qualified with a time of 7:54.54. On the women's side, Ashley Cousin was the standout, qualifying in two events: the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.76 and the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.88. K'Ianca Dupree was the other woman to qualify in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.83. "I am really proud of everyone and how we ran this weekend," said track & field director Scott Byrd. "Our team only continues to improve and every meet we go to, we have a good chance of qualifying more and more for nationals." Both teams will be traveling to the University of North Carolina for the Chick-fil-A Invitational on February 16th for the teams last big meet before the National Championships.
