Lady Hawks track perform strong at Georgia Invite

Athens, Ga. - With the NAIA Outdoor National Championships less than two weeks away, the Lady Hawks set personal records and school records at the Georgia Inviational this weekend, hosted by the University of Georgia.

Meanwhile, Shorter's women's 400-meter relay team placed first with a time of 47.86 seconds, setting a new school record. The group included Yeronda Hammond, K'Ianca Dupree, Maria Addison and Ashley Cousin.

Dupree and Cousin both had strong performances as individuals. Dupree set a school record in the 200, coming in at 24.04 and placing sixth. She finished eighth in the 100 (11.77) while Cousin came in sixth (11.80).

Jessica Coons set the new school mark in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:05.95 and took third while just missing qualifying for the nationals.

Shorter athlete Justyna Mundy, who was red-shirted this season, ran in the women's 1,500 meters at the event as an unattached entry. She took second place, coming in at 4:45.01.

The NAIA Outdoor National Championships are May 22-24 at Ralph Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Ill.
