Edwardsville, Ill. - K'Ianca Dupree and Ashley Cousin took high honors in the preliminary races on the first day of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' Women's Track National Championship, with both runners advancing to competition on the second day.

In the 100 meter dash, Dupree placed second with a 12.10 and Cousin finished close behind in fourth with a 12.22. Things took similar shape in the 200 meter dash, with Cousin taking third with 24.41 and Cousin in 10th with a time of 25.19.

In the first race of the day for the women, the 4x100 meter relay, the Lady Hawks took fourth, finishing in 47.48 seconds.

Semifinals and finals will be held tomorrow and Friday.
