Alex Franklin scored 20 points and Siena shot 56% from 3-point range in a 76-72 MAAC win over visiting Marist Monday night in Albany. The win snapped the Red Foxes six-game regular-season winning streak over the Saints. Franklin scored Siena's first eight points of the game and eight of the team's first 10 points in the second half. The Saints used an 11-2 run to build a 19-11 first half lead and trailed just once the rest of the game. Marist scored six straight points early in the second half to briefly take a 40-39 lead on a David Devezin lay up. Devezin was one of three Marist players to finish with 15 points. Reserves Jay Gavin and Ryan Schneider were the others. The Saints took the lead for good on Alex Franklin's jumper at the 17:01 mark of the second half - a field goal that ignited a 13-2 run. The lead reached 12 on a Tay Fisher 3-pointer with 8:50 to go, but the Red Foxes clawed back in the game. Fisher made all three of his 3-point attempts in the second half, and Siena connected on 5-6 long range tries as a team after intermission. Marist trimmed the lead to 68-64 with a 13-5 run culminated by two Scneider free throws with 3:36 left. Siena's Josh Duell scored the game's next five points - the first two on free throws and the last three on a desperation heave as the shot clock expired that put the game away. The Saints controlled the glass, owning a 20-13 edge on the boards in the first half and a 35-29 edge for the game. Both teams shot the ball well from long range. Marist made 5-9 first half 3-pointers to stay close and finished 9-20 (45%) from long distance. Edwin Ubiles had 15 points for Siena. Fisher had 14 and Kenny Hasbrouck added 10. The two teams entered the game in a three-way tie for second place with Loyola in the league standings. They will meet again Friday night in an ESPNU game in Poughkeepsie.
