Loudonville, N.Y. - On Sunday afternoon the Siena men's lacrosse team served as special guest volunteers at the Center for Disability Services 48th annual telethon which was held at the Holiday Inn Albany on Wolf Road. The Saints assisted in answering the telephones and accepting donations on behalf of the Center for Disability Services. This annual telethon generated over $1.8 million dollars in donations which broke last year's record by more than $100,000.
"As a program we are excited to help and volunteer our time to assist such a great organization like the Center for Disability Services," remarked head coach Brian Brecht. "I am proud that our team can have a relationship with a local organization and work together annually to support the needs of so many people."
The team answered calls on the air from 1-3 p.m. Senior captain Tim Hannigan presented master of ceremonies Rich Becker with a check in the sum of $500 on behalf of the Siena men's lacrosse team to benefit the center.
Hosted on FOX23 News by comedian/actor Fred Willard, the event also featured special guest appearances by Shelley Duncan of the New York Yankees and NFC Champion New York Giants wide receiver Steve Smith. It marked the second straight year that the men's lacrosse team lent a helping hand in this annual fundraiser.
