OMAHA, Neb. - The Southern Illinois women's golf team is in second place after the second day of the 2008 Missouri Valley Conference Championship.

The Salukis shot a team total of 307 today to bring their two-day total to 617, placing them one shot behind first-place Illinois State.

"We're one out of the lead, but we're still in awfully good shape," said head coach Diane Daugherty.

Kelly Gerlach currently sits in third place overall with a 151 (75-76). Kate Laegeler sits in sixth with a 153 (75-78).

Lauren May holds seventh place with a 154 (78-76). Braidy Hood is currently tied for 15th with a 159 (82-77).

Also competing for SIU were Christine Zoerlein (t44th, 86-85--171) and Danielle Kaufman (t55th, 93-84--177).

The 2008 MVC Championship will conclude tomorrow with the third round of 18 holes beginning at 11 a.m.
