HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team will return to Pete Taylor Park for three games this weekend in the annual Coca-Cola Classic. The Golden Eagles will welcome in Cal State Northridge and Liberty University for this years Classic. Southern Miss, who has not played at "The Pete" in over two weeks, completed an eight game road trip with a 9-4 win over University of New Orleans last night. In the eight game swing the Golden Eagles traveled over 5,000 miles by bus and plane. Southern Miss (7-6) has seemed to find their stoke at the plate over the last few games as well. In the last three games Southern Miss has hit .321 with 36 hits and 18 runs scored, including eight doubles and five homeruns. The Golden Eagles are 4-1 this season at Pete Taylor Park. They will face Cal State Northridge (7-5), who is playing their first road game of the season this weekend. Northridge is hitting .347 as a team with 102 runs on 136 hits, including 32 doubles and seven homeruns. Games are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday vs. Cal-Northridge. Southern Miss will also face Liberty University (9-3) on Saturday at noon. Liberty is 1-1 away from home this season and is hitting .320 as a team with 95 runs scored and 136 hits, including 32 doubles and seven homeruns. They also post a 3.52 team ERA. In addition to the games the Southern Miss are playing, Liberty will play Cal Northridge at 2:30 on Friday, March 14, before the Southern Miss/Cal-Northridge game.
