TULSA, Okla. - Southern Miss fell into an early hole and could not dig itself out, as the Golden Eagles began a two-game road trip by falling to Tulsa, 78-63, Saturday night at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

The Golden Eagles fall to 0-8 on the road, and have lost their last ten dating back to last year.

Jeremy Wise led Southern Miss with a game-high 21 points. R.L Horton had 14, and Sai'Quon Stone dropped in 10. Andre Stephens added eight rebounds.

After Southern Miss (12-11, 4-5 C-USA) opened the game with a lay-up, Tulsa went on a 19-2 run. The Golden Eagles missed 15 of its first 17 shots. With Southern Miss down 21-9, the Golden Hurricane went on an 11-0 run to take a 32-9 lead with 4:43 left in the half.

After the teams traded baskets Jerome Jordan hit a lay-up to give Tulsa its largest lead of the half and send the Golden Eagles (11-10, 3-6 C-USA) into the locker room down 40-15.

The 15-point output tied a season-low for points in a half. They also scored 15 points against UCF. Southern Miss shot just 17.1% (6-of-35), while the Golden Hurricane shot 60% (18-of-30). The six field goals were a season-low for a half.

Southern Miss battled throughout the second half, but could not get any closer than 14 points.

For the game Southern Miss shot 31.8% (21-of-66), while the Golden Hurricane shot 59.2% (29-of-49).

Tulsa had four players with double-digit points. Ben Uzoh had a team-leading 18 and Jerome Jordan dropped in 17. Brett McDade added 13, and Calvin Walls had 12 and a game-high nine rebounds.

Southern Miss will have a week off before closing out its two-game road trip next Saturday. The Golden Eagles travel to Greenville, N.C. to face East Carolina on February 16. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. (CT) at Minges Coliseum.
