April 1, 2008

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss Director of Athletics Richard Giannini announced today that two C-USA opponents on the 2008 football schedule will be switched from their originally released dates.

The Golden Eagles will flip Saturdays for the Memphis and UAB contests with Southern Miss now traveling to Memphis on October 25, while hosting UAB on Nov. 1.

The UAB game will be the Golden Eagles homecoming game. It was previously announced that the Oct. 4 game versus UTEP was designated as the homecoming contest but the date change enabled the Golden Eagles to push back that celebration.

"Conference USA requested this move be made," said Giannini. "The switch in the dates has also allowed us the opportunity to move our homecoming to a later date as well."

Southern Miss opens the season Aug. 30 at home against Louisiana-Lafayette. Game times will be announced at a later date.
