LAFAYETTE, La. -- - Three members of the Southern Miss men's tennis team finished the weekend undefeated in the 2007 Ragin' Cajuns Fall Invite to wrap up their fall season hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette.

The Golden Eagles walked away from the weekend with a singles titles and one doubles titles, with one other player winning the consolation draw in singles.

Sophomore Strate Krstevski, seed No. 1 in the Black Singles, posted straight set wins over Gerry Lozano (Centenary), 6-1, 6-0; Michael Okada (Alcorn State), 6-0, 6-0; and Murillo Martins (ULL), 7-5, 6-2.

Southern Miss doubles' duo of Diego and Oscar Machuca won the doubles, posting wins over Radu Ionescu/Vlad Popa (Nicholls), 8-5; Eric Fisher/Phenyo Matong (Nicholls), 9-8; John Tragardh/Ryan Lissner (LSU), 8-6; and Janusz Conradi/Alex Domoney (ULL), walkover.

Alex Arendt lost his first match in the White Singles' draw to Phenyo Matong (Nicholls), 6-4, 6-4, before fighting through the back draw to record three wins. Arendt defeated teammate Markus Wessinghage, 7-6, 6-1; Javier Castro (Grambling), 6-3, 6-3; and Nils Iwdal (Lamar), 6-1, 6-4.

In other Golden Eagle action, Wessinghage lost to Arlen Domoney (ULL), 6-2, 6-2. Oscar Machuca defeated Nicolas Rufyikiri (Grambling), 7-5, 4-6, 6-0 and lost to James Clusky (LSU), 6-4, 5-7, 6-2. Andrew Poole lost to Jorge Delgado (ULL), 6-4, 6-2. Diego Machuca lost to Sebastian Carlsson (LSU), 6-2, 6-3 and Abhaya Prakash (Alcorn State), 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.
 

 

In other doubles play, Wessinghage and Krstevski defeated Gerry Lozono and Alejandro Ahuja (Centenary), and lost to James Clusky and Julien Gauthier (LSU), 8-1.

Poole and Arendt defeated Tyler Cobb and Devin Harley (Lamar), 8-5 and Martel Campbell and Sebastian Carlsson (LSU), 8-6, before losing to Janusz Conradi/Alex Domoney (ULL), 8-6.
