GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Southern Miss indoor track and field teams completed competition in the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational Saturday, posting solid performances. Cornelius Duncan ran a season-best time of 48.03 to finish third in the 400 meters. Cordell Kinn ran 50.31, while Derrick Collins ran 53.42. Rascive Grant posted a time of 6.58 in the 55-meter dash, while Leonard McLeggon ran 6.94. Daniel Dir ran a time of 2:01.60 in the 800 meters. McLeggon posted a time of 7.82 in the 55-meters, while JorDon Smith ran 8.22 and Dir ran 8.50. Ricardo Page finished seventh in the shot with a throw of 52'8". Aaron Ammons posted a mark of 50'11". McLeggon and Myreon Sartin recorded jumps of 6'2.75 in the high jump. Ammons had a throw of 48'9.50" in the weight throw and Page recorded a mark of 48'2.50". The 4x400-meter relay team ran a time of 3:24.00. On the women's side, Rushae Collier finished eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 50'1.25" and Suesanna Williams recorded a mark of 47'0.25". Williams posted a throw of 42'1.25" in the shot.
Chastity Riggien ran a time of 7.15 in the 55-meters and teammate Karla Thurmond ran 7.45. Riggien and Thurmond ran times of 25.85 and 25.97, respectively, in the 200 meters. Cheris Fletcher recorded a time of 57.37 in the 400 meters, followed by Carmen Dennis with a time of 57.95; Jamaka Wall ran 1:01.20 and Kirsten Richards 1:01.31. Zuna Portillo recorded a time of 5:24.92 in the one-mile with Parris Hodges recording a time of 5:29.03. Samera Johnson ran 9.26 in the 55-meters. The 4x400-meter relay team posted a time of 3:51.43. Tiffany Hubbard had a jump of 5'3" in the high jump, while Ashley May recorded a jump of 18'9.75" in the long jump. Southern Miss competes in the LSU Bayou Bengal, Feb. 1. |
