HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Redshirt sophomore Stephanie Helgeson led Southern Miss to a pair of home C-USA wins last week. The Lady Eagles defeated Memphis, 76-56, Thursday before upsetting UAB, 77-64, on Saturday. Helgeson finished the week averaging 19.5 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game. She also shot the league's third-best field goal percentage of .625 (15-of-24) and went a solid 81.8 percent (9-of-11) from the line. In the team's upset victory over UAB, she scored a career-high 26 points, including eight during a 16-0 run to give the Lady Eagles a double-digit lead. She also scored four crucial points and had two blocks down the stretch helping to hold off a late UAB run. The sophomore tied for top honors for most blocked shots for the week with six in just 34.5 minutes per game. She was one of five players to score in double figures against Memphis with 13 points, hitting 6-of-8 attempts (.750) from the field. Helgeson added four blocks to go with four assists and two steals against the Tigers. This is Helgeson's first weekly honor of her career.
