HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss hits the road for a single game at Southeastern Louisiana. Game time is set for 6 p.m.

Southern Miss is coming off a 7-1 win over UAB Sunday. Samantha Davis pitched a complete game, giving up six hits and only one run. After trailing for three innings, Southern Miss scored in runs four-consecutive innings to take the lead in defeating UAB. Six different players had a hit that included a double and triple.

Senior Jennifer Fox paces Southern Miss on offense. The third baseman leads the squad in batting average with a .330 to go along with three home runs and 17 RBIs. Sophomore Megan Hill paces the team with a team-best 25 RBIs to go along with four home runs and a .318 batting average.

Junior catcher Kristin Pilgrim has notched a .257 batting average with two homers and 18 RBIs and senior shortstop Kristin Chaney is at .270 with an eight runs driven in and her first career inside the park home run.

Five Lady Eagles have posted a 3.61 earned run average as a staff with junior Samantha Davis (9-7) leading the way with a 2.55 ERA and a team-best 59 strikeouts. Freshman Lana Vaughn is next at 2.90, as she has a pitching mark of 4-4, while fellow freshman Hannah Griffin (2-1) is sporting an ERA of 3.75.
 

 

Southeastern Louisiana comes in with a 22-11 record, following a 7-0 loss to Stephen F. Austin.

Heather Sherrill leads SELA with a batting average of .406 with six homers and 30 RBIs. Four other Lions are sporting a batting average over .300. Rachel Ray has a team-low ERA of 2.27 with a 12-5 record.

Following this game, the Lady Eagles return home for a Thursday contest, against nationally ranked Louisiana-Lafayette at the Southern Miss Softball Complex.
