BATON ROUGE, La. - Southern Miss quarter-miler Cornelius Duncan broke a 24-year old school record in the 800 meters, posting a time of 1:50.90 to finish fourth at the LSU Alumni Gold Invitational Saturday. The record was previously held by Mitchell Williams (1980-84) with a time of 1:51.20.

Vincent Tanui ran a time of 1:34.66 in the 5,000 meters, finishing second. Ricardo Page posted two top eight performances, finishing fifth in the shot with a throw of 53'3.75" and in the discus with a throw of 168'0". Aaron Ammons was seventh in the shot with a throw of 50'2". Noah Slater finished eighth in the javelin with a throw of 190'. Leonard McLeggon finished fifth in the high jump with a season-best jump of 6'6.75".

Parris Hodges finished second in the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:46.16, while Zuna Portillo-Rodriguez was third in the 3,000 steeple with a time of 11:51.04.

Ashley May recorded a mark of 41'8.50" in the triple jump, placing third and jumped 19'7" in the long jump and finished eighth.

The Golden Eagle track teams will travel to the Drake Relays, April 25-26, in Des Moines, Iowa.
