DALLAS (SMU) - Chelsea Chapman has been named the assistant coach for SMU equestrian, announced head coach Ashley Schaeffer on Friday. Chapman, a 2005 SMU alum, joins the Mustangs after nearly two years with Texas Horse Park where she served as the Director of Community Partnerships and Administrative Coordinator.
At Texas Horse Park, Chapman was responsible for establishing the curriculum for the Texas Horse Park's Community Outreach programs, working closely with the board of directors on community partnerships, facilitating events and producing marketing and fundraising materials. She also spent the summers of 2002 and 2003 as a riding instructor at Pine Cove Ranch in Tyler, Texas.
Immediately after graduation from SMU, Chapman served as the Campus Ministry Intern with the SMU Wesley Foundation during the 2005-06 academic year. There, she planned student events and administered fundraising events. While an undergrad at SMU, she spent the 2004-05 school term as the Religious Life representative on the SMU Organizations Committee to the Dean. She also served as a student-assistant in the Athletics Public Relations office during the 2001-02 athletics season.
Chapman graduated from SMU in May 2005 with a bachelor of arts in English and a minor in religious studies. She and her husband Trevor, also an SMU alum, reside in Dallas.
