Baton Rouge, LA - The Southern University Lady Jaguars defeated the Lady Panthers of Prairie View A&M University 10-2 and 8-0. Both games today only went five innings with the Blue and Gold scoring a combined total of 18 runs. Southern's (16-11, 2-0 SWAC) sophomore pitcher Megan Hodge had her first no hitter going with only two outs left in the game until PV's Emily Holcomb hit a single into shallow left center to breakup Hodge's first no hitter of the year. The Atlanta, Texas native ended the game striking out eight and only allowed four hits and two runs. Sophomore Brittany Hymes went 3 for 4 with two runs and a RBI. Senior Tiffany Darville finished the game 2 for 2 with two runs and a RBI. In game two freshman Brittany Gillenwater allowed three hits and struck out three to earn the win. Once again Hymes led the way for SU ending the game 3 for 3 with a run. Freshman Victoria Stewart completed her 25th game of the season 2 for 3 with two RBI's.
The final game in this Western Division Southwestern Athletic Conference week-end series will be on Saturday, March 15th at 12:00 p.m. The game will be played at Lady Jaguar field and the events are free and open to the public.
