Baton Rouge, LA - The Southern University softball team will host the Lady Lions of the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff in their final regular season contest of the year.

Southern (22-16, 10-4 SWAC) needs only one win to grab their fifth straight and seventh overall Southwestern Athletic Conference Western Division title. Leading the way for the Blue and Gold is sophomore Brittany Hymes. The Addis, LA native is hitting a career best .369 with 31 hits, 14 runs and 11 RBI's. First baseman Jasmone Williams is also enjoying a career season at the plate hitting .337 with a team leading 34 hits and 25 runs. The Carthage, Texas native has totaled five homeruns and four triples on a team that is currently ranked first in the USA in triples per game with 0.56. William's ranks 20th in the nation in triples per game with 0.12.

The last week-end series at Lady Jaguar field for the 2008 season will begin on Friday, April 18th with a 1:00 p.m. start time. That game was originally scheduled for 3:00 pm but because of a 70% chance of rain the game has been moved up. The final two contests will be played on Saturday, April 19th starting at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. The events are free and open to the public.
