MLB Draft / Summer Ball: Drafted in the ninth round by the Pirates in the 2012 draft... drafted in the 14th round by the Phillies following high school ...Playing for Orleans in the Cape Cod League in 2011, hit .210 over 26 games with 12 runs and eight RBIs, patrolling the outfield on the Bostonian island.... rated the No. 29-best prospect in the league by perfectgame.org... played for the Alaska Goldpanners in the summer of 2010 , as he was rated the No. 1 prospect in the Alaska Summer League by Baseball America after batting .270 over 25 games with 13 runs and 11 RBIs ... stole six bases in six attempts and made just one error in the outfield in 54 attempts (.981) ... named a second team all-star following the season.

Stanford Career: Three-year starting center fielder had a career-best .294 average in 2012 and .265 average in 148 games with 96 career runs and 62 career RBIs... also had 37 doubles, three triples and nine home runs... stole 16-of-21 over three seasons.

As a junior in 2012: 43 starts in center and 2 starts at DH... finished the regular season tenth in the Pac-12 in homers... ended the season on a 12-game hit streak... hit a career-best .294 over 48 games with 40 runs and 27 RBIs, primarily as the team's leadoff hitter. Also had seven home runs (third on the team) and team-high 16 doubles.... had a three-run homer v. Cal (5/27), ending a three homer week. Homered twice at Santa Clara (5/22) in the first, on the first pitch, and with a two-run homer in the 8th to make it 8-5, going 4-for-4 with four runs and a walk... returned to lineup at SJSU (5/1) hitting his first homer since April 1, going 1-fo-r-3 with a two-run homer... 10-game hit streak snapped v. First start went 1-for-3 against Arizona (5/22) ... two, two-run doubles in 7-4 win over No. 20 Cal (4/25)... five-straight multi-hit games in mid-April. two hits at SCU (4/19) and two hits a piece in all three losses to No. 9 Oregon State (4/15-4/17)... 3-for-4 with four runs and a three-run double and RBI double in 16-14 win over Saint Mary's (3/29)... hit safely in 12 of the first 13 games... 2-for-3 with a two-run double and an RBI single v. SCU (3/1)... hit safely in 10 of the first 11 games... three hits in Saturday loss at No. 3 Vandy (2/26)... starting center fielder as a freshman, playing in 55 games.

As a Freshman in 2010: Team's startng center fielder made 47 starts in center in 2010 for NCAA Regional team ... one of three starting freshmen outfielders (Piscotty-Stewart-Gaffney) ... despite .209 average, made the lineup card 55 times with 24 runs and 16 RBIs ... also had six doubles, two triples and two home runs and stole 5-of-7 bases ... good defensive outfielder showed when he made a great diving catch in left center in Sunday Cal win (4/25) ... drove in career-best four with three-run homer and RBI groundout at OSU (4/18) ... first career homer, a two-run shot at UC Davis (3/5), also had triple in the game ... three hits in Saturday game including a double v. USC (3/27) ... one of fastest players on the field ... listed by Baseball America as one of the top newcomers in the Pac-10 and the sixth-best freshman in the NCAA.

High School: Three-sport athlete lettered four years in baseball, three in basketball and football ... two-time all-state performer and a Baseball America prep All-American ... as a senior hit .511 over 26 games and 88 at-bats with 44 runs and 50 RBIs ... also had five doubles, three triples and 11 homers for a 1.011 slugging percentage ... also stole eight of 11 bases ... had five outfield assists ... on the mound, did not give up a run over 6.0 relief appearances, allowing just one hit, walking one and striking out five ... team won the last three state championships from 2007 to 2009.
