Vincent named A-10 Co-Pitcher of the Week

April 7, 2008

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure senior Cody Vincent has been named the Atlantic 10 baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week for the period ending April 6, after leading the Bonnies to a 5-0 week.

Vincent had a hand it three of the team's five wins as he picked up a pair of saves and a complete game victory. In all, Vincent tossed 13 innings in his three appearances, allowing just two runs and striking out 10.

The Russell, Pa. native opened the week with a two-inning save against Big 4 rival Buffalo, retiring all six batters he faced, including four by strikeout. The team's projected game two starter during A-10 weekends, Vincent worked double time on Saturday after Friday's game was postponed. Vincent came on in the opener against Dayton to pick up his second two-inning save of the week and then returned to the mound under an hour later for his scheduled start. The lefty never showed signs of fatigue as he held the Flyers scoreless until the eighth inning cruising to a complete game 7-2 victory.

Vincent's big week dropped his ERA on the season to 2.66, ranking him fifth in the A-10 and improved his overall mark to 2-2. Vincent also continued his assault on the Bona record books as he moved into the top 3 of every pitching category.

Vincent and the Bonnies will be back in action on Tuesday with a double-dip at Big 4 rival Niagara. Game one will begin at 3 p.m.
