May 20, 2009
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure baseball freshman Ryan Skellie has been named to the Atlantic 10 Conference All-Rookie team, in voting conducted by the league's head coaches. Skellie is the first Bonnie to ever be named to the A-10 All Rookie team. The conference added the All-Rookie team to its postseason awards in 2006. The Erie, Pa. native enjoyed a strong finish to his first campaign in the Brown and White, batting .400 (16-40) over 11 games in the month of May. Skellie finished the year second on the team in overall batting average at a .331 clip, highlighted by 13 multi-hit games and a team-best 10 multi-RBI contests. Skellie also led the team with 20 two-out hits and had five doubles, two triples, one home run and 31 RBI. Skellie was even stronger in A-10 play, leading the team with a .375 batting average over 20 games played in right field. Amongst those 20 games, Skellie delivered at least one hit in 12 contests and had an on-base percentage of .469. St. Bonaventure will return 18 players from this year's squad that finished 24-25 overall.
