Moley garners ABCA All-Region accolades

June 18, 2008

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure baseball senior Randy Moley added to his stack of postseason accolades on Tuesday evening as he was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Northeast Region first team, in a voting conducted by the region's head coaches.

Moley's honor extends the Bonnies' streak on the ABCA All-Region team to four years as he becomes the sixth player in the last eight seasons to make either the first or second team.

Moley set program single-season records with 84 hits and 61 runs scored in his 53 starts in center field. An Atlantic 10 All-Conference first team selection in the outfield, Moley led the Atlantic 10 with a .406 batting average, highlighted by 26 multi-hit performances. The speedy center fielder was one of four players in the A-10 with at least 30 stolen bases and is just the fifth Bonnie to reach that plateau in a single-season. Moley was a force at any spot in the lineup, reaching base in 52 of 53 games resulting in a league-leading .494 on-base percentage. Moley also led the Bonnies with 20 doubles, six home runs and 56 RBI.

Moley garnered some national recognition earlier in the season when he was featured in "The Faces of the Crowd" in the May 12 issue of Sports Illustrated. Moley etched his name all over the Bona record books over his 179 career games played. A three-year starter in the outfield, Moley is second all-time in runs scored (137), third in both hits (213) and doubles (46), and fifth in batting average (.350) and stolen bases (54).

The Lancaster, N.Y. product also claimed numerous academic honors this past season, most notably his selection to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America first team. Moley also claimed his second consecutive A-10 Baseball Student-Athlete of the Year award and received several University honors at the 2008 commencement ceremony.
