Bonnies' Second-Half Comeback Falls Short as Minutemen Hold On for the Win

AMHERST, Mass. (AP) -Gary Forbes had 18 points and 16 rebounds as Massachusetts shrugged off a slow start to the second half and rolled past St. Bonaventure, 79-56, in Atlantic 10 action Sunday.

Three other players scored in double figures to help the Minutemen grab its third straight win and the largest conference victory of the season.

UMass (18-9, 7-6 Atlantic 10) led 40-21 at halftime. The Bonnies, however, came out of intermission on a 21-8 run to cut Massachusetts' edge to 48-42 with 11:37 on the clock.

Ricky Harris, who was taken out of the game early in the second half, returned and scored 10 straight points to put UMass back in firm command. He finished with 14 points.

Matt Glass, who scored a career-high 14 points, had three second-half 3-pointer to put the game out of reach.

Michael Lee led St. Bonaventure (7-19, 1-11 A-10) with 15 points and 13 rebounds. D'Lancy Carter and Zarryon Fereti each had 11.
