Bonnies add Niagara Falls' Kelvin Agee

June 1, 2009

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure head coach Mark Schmidt officially announced on Monday that Niagara Falls star Kelvin Agee has accepted a written offer of admission and has confirmed his enrollment in the fall of 2009 freshmen class.

"We're really excited to be able to get a player of Kelvin's caliber from a terrific basketball program like Niagara Falls," said Schmidt. "Our system is a perfect fit for Kelvin because he's an athletic combo guard who can really score the basketball. He'll benefit tremendously from getting to learn the system for a year and we expect big things out of him in 2010-11. His experience of succeeding at one of the best High School programs in the nation will go a long way in helping him transition to the next level."

A first team All-State selection as a senior in 2008-09, Agee led Niagara Falls to a 24-1 record, a Niagara Frontier League title, a Section VI championship and a Far West Regional title. Agee averaged 22.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game en route to being named the Niagara Gazette Player of the Year and to the Buffalo News All-Western New York first team choice.

Under the guidance of head coach Giulio Colangelo, the 6-foot-3 shooting guard led the Wolverines to the state final four for the sixth time in the nine-year history of the school this past season. Agee's most memorable performance in 2008-09 came at the Class AA Far West Regional final when he had 27 points, a school record 11 steals and nine rebounds in a win over Greece-Athena. During the win over Greece-Athena, Agee surpassed the 1,000 career point plateau thanks in part to having 17 second half points.

Agee scored 1,043 points and grabbed over 400 rebounds during his illustrious three-year career. Niagara Falls made the state final four in each of his final two seasons, as he garnered All-State Tournament honors each time. Over Agee's three seasons, Niagara Falls produced a record of 69-6.
