HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The St. Bonaventure golf team concluded play at the Atlantic 10 Championships and wrapped up its 2008-08 season with a sixth place finish on Sunday afternoon at Mission Inn Resort.

Charlotte finished 10 strokes ahead of Xavier to win its fourth consecutive A-10 Golf Championship. Junior Corey Nagy from UNCC won the individual title with a three-day score of 212 (-1).

The Bonnies produced a team score of 315 to slip from fourth to sixth place on the final day. The Brown and White finished with rounds of 296-306-315/917. Richmond (897) jumped two slots to take third, while Temple (907) and Rhode Island (914) rounded out the top five.

Senior Brennan Payne and junior Nathan Peck were voted to the All-Conference team by the league coaches following the tournament.

Playing in the 100th round of his career at St. Bonaventure, Payne's All-Conference selection was his second in as many years. Payne finished in 23rd place with a 70-75-85/230. Walking down his final hole as a Bonnie, Payne carded his lone birdie of the day on the par 4, 18th. His illustrious four-year career also featured 17 career top 20 finishes and nine top 10s.

Peck finished his third A-10 Championship strong by carding a three-over par 73 on Sunday. Like Payne, Peck's first All-Conference honor comes in his third season in the brown and white. Peck's rounds of 70-78-73/221 landed him in a tie for seventh place in the individual standings. Peck finished the season with an impressive eight top 10 finishes in just 12 tournaments.

Sophomore Chris Stoddard finished one spot back of Payne in a tie for 24th place. A year removed from finishing in 37th position, Stoddard's second go-around at the A-10 Championship featured rounds of 77-75-80/232.

 

 

Fellow sophomore Kristopher Boyes contributed a score in two rounds in his first conference championship. Boyes' six-over par 77 in the final round was the team's second-best score of the afternoon.
