ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure concluded its regular season on Wednesday evening with a 139-100 win over Buffalo at the Reilly Center. The team's five seniors - Scott Jordan, Roman Margulis, CJ Maurer, Michael Postles and James Wood - were honored before the meet. Eight first-place finishes and seven second-place finishes were enough to lead the Bonnies past the Bulls for their third straight victory before the conference championships.

Margulis earned gold in the 100-yard freestyle, touching in with a time of 47.93. He also claimed gold in the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.77), followed in second place by freshman Chris Baker (1:46.37).

In the 200-yard IM, Jordan posted a time of 1:57.63 to win the event. Sophomore Mariusz Michalik finished second with a time of 1:58.22. Jordan earned gold in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:10.38), followed by freshman Kevin Murphy in third place (2:17.81).

In three-meter diving, Maurer posted a score of 309.67, his best of the season. The score earned him a second-place finish as he just fell short of NCAA-qualifying. Junior Jonathan Larson also posted his season-best score in the event (278.93) to finish third. Maurer and Larson placed second and third in one-meter diving as well, earning scores of 256.87 and 244.72, respectively.

The A team of Margulis, Baker and freshmen David Kundzik and Jared Robinson won the 200-yard freestyle relay. Their time of 1:26.77 was St. Bonaventure's second-best in the event this season. The B team of Wood, Postles, Michalik and freshman Santiago Castaneda earned a bronze finish with a time of 1:33.19.

 

 

In the 200-yard butterfly, Kundzik was victorious with a time of 1:56.39. Junior Chris Happel took bronze with a time of 1:59.08.

Junior Pat Henahan touched in with the top finish in the 50-yard freestyle (22.11), followed by a third-place finish from Robinson (22.79). Robinson also garnered silver in the 500-yard freestyle, posting a time of 4:59.42.

In the 400-yard medley relay, Wood, Jordan, Henahan and Kundzik combined for a first-place finish in the event (3:30.79) for the Brown and White. Michalik, Happel, Castaneda and sophomore Patrick Butler finished third (3:40.18).

Wood finished second in the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.96), while Murphy earned silver in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:00.83.

St. Bonaventure ends the regular season with a record of 6-4 (2-0 in the Atlantic 10). The Bonnies now have two weeks to prepare before the A-10 Championships begin in Buffalo, N.Y. on Feb. 20 at the Flickinger Center.
