HAPPY VALLEY, Pa. - The men's swimming and diving team finished up its road schedule after dropping a 127-105 decision at Penn State. The Bonnies managed three gold medals against the Big Ten member and it returns to campus with its first losing streak of the season.

The highlight of the meet for Bonas was a sweep in the 100-yard breaststroke. Junior Mariusz Michalik brought home the gold (59.80), followed closely by freshmen Mike Dansa (1:01.12) and Ilya Nenashev (1:01.28) in second and third, respectively.

Bona freshmen continued their season-long success by posting a 2-3-4 finish in the 100-yard backstroke. Peter Koenig claimed silver (54.72) while Jacob Greene (55.63) and Francisco Nieves (58.86) rounded out the top four.

Senior Pat Henahan the team's only other individual gold, sprinting to a win in the 100-yard freestyle, posting an even time of 47.00. He also led off for the Bona `A' team in the 400-yard freestyle relay, helping lead the team of sophomores David Kundzik, Kevin Murphy and freshman Yi Liu to gold (3:10.32). Murphy followed up the gold with a second place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (4:44.56).

In the diving portion, senior Ryan Pietrzak garnered bronze in both the 1- and 3-meter diving events, with scores of 272.32 and 267.90, respectively.

 

 

The team will honor its five outgoing seniors tomorrow afternoon in its final home meet of the season. Bonas will bring its 6-4 dual meet record back the Reilly Center Pool, welcoming in Big-4 rival Niagara for a 1 p.m. start.
