April 4, 2008
MONROEVILLE, Pa. - The fourth-seeded St. Bonaventure men's tennis opened the 2008 Atlantic 10 Tournament on Friday morning with a convincing 4-0 win over 12th-seeded Fordham at the Club 4 Life. The Bonnies will now turnaround and take on fourth-seeded Duquesne at 2 p.m. The Dukes took this year's meeting, 4-1. St. Bonaventure surrendered just three points in its three singles wins as junior Jonathan Luce, sophomore Diego Valdenegro and freshman Chris Post accounted for the three points. The Bonnies led the other three matches, but didn't finish due to having enough points to clinch the win. The match began with the Bonnies claiming the doubles point. Junior Victor Lecina and freshman Mikhail Sudakov teamed up at No. 2 doubles for an 8-3 win. Luce and Valdenegro cruised to an 8-0 to clinch the doubles point at the third slot.
