Men's Tennis falls in Atlantic 10 Tournament semifinals

April 5, 2008

MONROEVILLE, Pa. - The St. Bonaventure men's tennis team was defeated in the Atlantic 10 Tournament semifinals for the second straight season as the Bonnies dropped a 4-1 decision to top seeded George Washington this morning at the Club 4 Life.

Despite picking up a point in the top doubles flight thanks to an 8-4 victory from junior Leo Mochizuki and freshman Chris Post, the Brown and White surrendered the overall doubles tally with a pair of losses in the second and third tandem pairings.

The Colonials dominated singles play with five of six victories as sophomore Diego Valdenegro notched his side's only singles point. The Chilean international posted a 6-2, 6-1 straight set triumph over George Washington's Ryan Schlachter in fifth singles play. Two of the Colonial's wins were suspended due to George Washington already owning enough points to clinch the win.

The Brown and White will return to action tomorrow morning at 11:00 a.m. for a third place contest against the loser of this afternoon's #3 Charlotte/#2 Xavier match up.
