Murray named to ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District team
Feb. 7, 2008
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - Junior guard Katelyn Murray has earned a spot on the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District I first team announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) earlier this morning. The Harrisburg, Pa. native is in the midst of her best season on the court for the 15-8 Bonnies, while holding a 4.0 cumulative grade point average in biology. "Katelyn has always been a great representative of our program and what student-athletes should stand for," said head coach Jim Crowley. "We are extremely proud for Katelyn as she is enjoying her best season on the floor as well which makes the honor that more impressive." In her third season in the Brown and White, Murray sits second on the club in scoring with a career-high 10.6 points per game with a team-best 41 three-pointers on the season. She has reached double figures in 12 contests, including three games of 20 or more points through the Bonnies' first 23 games. Murray has started 73 of 81 contests since her arrival on campus and has developed into one of the best three-point shooters in school history as her 124 career triples rank fifth all-time. As of last night's games, the 5-9 guard ranks 11th in the Atlantic 10 Conference in three-point field goal percentage at a 40.2 percent clip. Although Murray's honor is the first in program history, the Bonnies' academic prowess has been displayed in the past five seasons as the Brown and White have been cited in four of the last five WBCA Academic Team Honor Rolls. St. Bonaventure ranked third in the nation on last year's list with a 3.594 average. The Brown and White return to action with a pair of conference road clashes beginning with a 7:00 tip-off at Charlotte on Saturday, Feb. 9.
