Pazda earns A-10 Academic All-Conference selection

May 5, 2009

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure softball senior Kathryn Pazda was named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team on Tuesday afternoon, in voting conducted by the Conference's sports information directors.

Pazda's selection to the team makes it six straight season that at least one St. Bonaventure player has garnered an Academic All-Conference honor. Pazda currently carries a 3.71 grade-point average (GPA), and is set to graduate in two weeks as a Business/Management Science major.

The Clarence, N.Y., native led the team this season with 32 hits, 38 total bases and six doubles. She finished second on the team with a .278 batting average and 12 RBI. Pazda, who is a team co-captain, is also one of only two Bonnies to start in all 37 games this season.

Always a consistent hitter, Pazda has accumulated 102 hits over her career, which ranks her ninth on the St. Bonaventure career hits list, including three straight years with at least 25 hits. She has started every game for the Bonnies over the past two seasons and has appeared in 137 games total over her career, which is good for 12th on the St. Bonaventure career appearances list.

St. Bonaventure finished the season with a rally to clinch a spot in the Atlantic 10 Championship for the fourth time in the last five seasons. Pazda and the rest of the Bonnies will take on Saint Louis in the first round on Wednesday, May 5, at 3:00 pm at Fordham University.
