Bonnies season ends with loss to Saint Joseph's

April 18, 2009

MONROEVILLE, Pa. - The St. Bonaventure women's tennis team lost 4-0 to 12-seeded Saint Joseph's in the first round of the consolation bracket at The Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday morning.

The loss in the first round of the consolation bracket determined that St. Bonaventure will finish tied for 13th in the Atlantic 10 this season.

The Bonnies lost the doubles point to start the match down 1-0. Due to the Brown and White only having five players, St. Bonaventure forfeited at number six singles to give Saint Joseph's a 2-0 lead. The Hawks picked up the final two points of the match thanks to freshman Laura Matz and senior Krysta Contino's straight set victories at number four and five singles, respectively.

The defeat ends the Brown and White's season and drops their overall record to 4-15 for the spring. The loss also marks the final match for the lone senior on this year's squad, Ana Delgado.
