Marin-Salcedo earns A-10 All-Conference selection

May 1, 2009

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure women's tennis freshman Manuela Marin-Salcedo was named to the 2009 Atlantic 10 All-Conference second team on Friday morning, in voting conducted among the Conference's head coaches following the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship.

Marin-Salcedo was one of only five freshmen awarded a spot on the All-Conference first or second teams.

The Paris, France, native has a stellar first season in the Brown and White playing primarily at the number one and number two singles positions. She compiled a 9-7 singles duel match record, while teaming with sophomore Maria Barousse to post a 9-9 record exclusively at number one doubles.

Among some of her more impressive singles wins over the course of the season were triumphs over Big 4 rival Niagara, MAAC member Manhattan and A-10 power Dayton.

St. Bonaventure finished the 2009 regular season with a 4-15 overall record. The Bonnies will return four starters from this year's squad, including Marin-Salcedo, as they look forward to next season.
