QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's men's and women's fencing teams will head south to Atlanta for the NAC Division I Junior Olympic Trials at the Georgia World Congress Center on Jan. 18-21. Competing in the four-day event are Red Storm juniors and seniors who finished strong in the last Olympic Trials in Richmond, Va. in early December. Seniors Monika Golebiewski and Luther Clement, as well as sophomore Tanya Novakovska all finished in the top ten of last month's event. Golebiewski finished seventh in the women's foil, while Clement, the squad's captain, finished ninth in the sabre. In the women's epee, Novakovska placed second in the trials. Top finishers from this weekend's meet will earn points toward qualifying for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Next up for the Red Storm will be the NYU tournament on Jan. 25, hosted by New York University.
