The St. John's fencing team moved up to second place after women's day three action at the 2007 NCAA Championships at Drew University. The Red Storm has a combined 142 total team points. St. John's sits only eight points behind first place Penn State and is five points ahead of third place Columbia. The women's team will enter the final day of competition with junior Reka Szele and freshman Tanya Novakovska in fourth and fifth place, respectively, in women's epee. Each fencer has posted 10 victories thus far. Women's team captain Monika Golebiewski stands at second place in foil after the first four rounds. She has scored 65 touches in 13 victories. Meanwhile, junior Katia Larchanka is in 17th place with five victories. Sophomore Olga Ovtchinnikova will enter Sunday in second place in women's sabre. She has compiled 12 victories with 65 touches scored. Freshman Dagmara Wozniak sits at sixth place with 10 victories. Action concludes at the 2007 NCAA Championships on Sunday, March 25.
