LaMare's Defensive Effort Against Lehigh Earns ECAC Weekly Honors

March 24, 2008

QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's lacrosse senior Tim LaMare earned a spot on the ECAC Honor Roll for the week of March 24 after another impressive defensive performance at Lehigh on Saturday.

The senior from Philadelphia, Pa., led the team with six ground balls, while causing one Mountain Hawk turnover in the 7-3 loss in Bethlehem, Pa., on March 22.

LaMare's efforts in the backfield have been aided all season by fellow senior starting defenders Mike Luyster and Ryan Parker. Collectively, the trio of seniors have only allowed six man-down goals in 33 attempts by opponents. Against Lehigh, the three helped St. John's kill six of seven power plays, picked up 10 ground balls and held the Mountain Hawks to just seven goals in 36 shots.

Up next, St. John's (0-6, 0-2 ECAC) will host the Siena Saints in a non-conference match up at home on DaSilva Memorial Field on Tuesday, March 25. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
