QUEENS, N.Y. - For the second-straight week, St. John's lacrosse senior defender Tim LaMare earned a spot on the ECAC Honor Roll. The long stick defender from Philadelphia, Pa., led the defense, who has been the backbone of the team all season long in a tough 0-2 week for St. John's. For the week, LaMare collected a total of 7 ground balls and caused six turnovers, with only one turnover himself. In the Red Storm's 9-6 conference loss to Rutgers on March 29, LaMare led the man-down defensive unit in holding the Scarlet Knights 0-7 in power play goal opportunities. The Red Storm defense is third in the league in penalty killing percentage (.814). Massachusetts and Rutgers rank first and second, respectively. Up next, St. John's (0-8, 0-3 ECAC) will host the Massachusetts Minutemen for a Saturday afternoon ECAC match up on April 5. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. on DaSilva Memorial Field.
