QUEENS, N.Y. -
The BIG EAST Conference released today the listing of home/away opponents for the 2008-09 women's basketball season. St. John's will have another challenging home slate at Carnesecca Arena, which will feature eight home league contests.
The Red Storm will host four BIG EAST NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago, which includes Connecticut, DePaul, Rutgers and Syracuse. Cincinnati, Providence and Georgetown will also travel to Queens, N.Y., in addition to repeat opponent Seton Hall, who STJ will also face in South Orange, N.J.
St. John's will hit the road and travel to face Louisville, Marquette, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, USF, Villanova and West Virginia. The Cardinals, Fighting Irish, Panthers and Mountaineers are coming off of NCAA Tournament berths, while the Golden Eagles captured the Postseason Women's National Invitation Tournament Championship this year.
Dates and times for each league contest will be released at a later date.
STJ is coming off a highly successful 2007-08 campaign, in which the team finished with an 18-15, 7-9 BIG EAST record. The Red Storm clinched a berth to its fifth-straight conference tournament and advanced to the WNIT Quarterfinals.
