Women's Soccer Game vs. Marquette Changed to 3 p.m

Oct. 22, 2005

QUEENS, N.Y.- The time of Sunday's St. John's women's soccer game against No. 13/11 Marquette has been changed to 3 p.m. (2 p.m. C.T.). This contest closes out the Red Storm's regular season schedule.

The time was changed to accommodate the addition of the Syracuse vs. South Florida match on the Marquette campus. The game's location was changed to due the threat of Hurricane Wilma in the greater Tampa Bay area. This match begins at 12 p.m. (11 a.m. C.T) with the Red Storm vs. Golden Eagles contest following.

St. John's still has a chance to gain a berth in the BIG EAST conference tournament. Heading into Sunday's game, the Red Storm trails both Syracuse and South Florida. The Orange and Bulls are currently tied for fifth position in the "A' Division with nine points, St. John's has eight. Pittsburgh, meanwhile, sits in the fourth spot with 11 points.

For the Red Storm to make the tournament, the team has to beat Marquette and needs Pittsburgh to fall to Connecticut. This would give both St. John's and the Panthers 11 points, but the Red Storm holds the tiebreaker since it won the regular season match-up. St. John's would then secure the fifth position and the winner of the Syracuse vs. USF contest gets the fourth spot. If the Orange and Bulls tie, each team would only receive one point for 10 points a-piece, which puts the Red Storm in the fourth position with 11 points and Syracuse and USF would go to a tiebreaker for the fifth spot.
